INDIANAPOLIS – Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference members Colorado State University Pubelo an Western Colorado University are the top two seeds in the NCAA Division II Football Championship's Super Region 4 in a 28-team bracket announced Sunday night.
CSU Pueblo (10-1) won the 2024 RMAC Football Championship and is the No. 1 seed in Super Region 4. The ThunderWolves are making their ninth appearance in the Division II Playoffs, but first under head coach Philip Vigil who took over the program in 2023. CSU Pueblo won the 2014 championship and has advanced to the quarterfinals or later twice.
Western Colorado (10-1) finished second in the RMAC title race and is the No. 2 seed in the super region. It is the Mountaineers sixth postseason appearance and third since 2021 under head coach Jas Bains. Western Colorado enters the 2024 tournament in search of its first NCAA postseason win.
Western Colorado opens the NCAA Division II Playoffs hosting Central Washington in a 1 p.m. (MT), Saturday contest in Gunnison, Coloardo. CSU Pueblo receives a first round bye and awaits the winner of the Augustana-Minnesota State contest in a 1 p.m. (MT), Saturday, Nov. 30 matchup in Pueblo, Colorado.
For the first time in 2024, ESPN+ will air all first, second, and quarterfinal contests in the NCAA Division II Football Championship. The national semifinals will return to ESPN+ this season and the national championship game is scheduled to air on ESPN2 from McKinney, Texas.
