RMAC’S Final Weekly Football Honors Awarded to Goods, Gregg, & Peter

Goods dashes to three TDs, Gregg involved in two turnovers, and Peter keys ThunderWolves go-ahead score

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s presented its final weekly football awards to Black Hills State’s Cameron Goods, Colorado School of Mines’ Hayden Gregg, and Colorado State University Pueblo’s Shallum Peter on Monday.
 
Goods led Black Hills State to its third win over the final four weeks and a winning record for the third consecutive season with three touchdowns on Saturday to earn the league’s offensive honor. Gregg had a hand in forcing a pair of turnovers to help the Orediggers close the season with a win to claim the defensive award. Peter’s blocked punt and tackle on the recovery changed the momentum in CSU Pueblo’s come-from-behind win and earned him this week’s special teams honor.
 
Offensive Player of the Week:
Cameron Goods, Black Hills State (Junior, Running Back, Irving, California)
Goods ran for three touchdowns to power Black Hills State past New Mexico Highlands, 48-31, on Saturday. He needed 19 carries to amass 178 rushing yards, including a 62-yard touchdown dash and a pair of one-yard bursts. He had four carries of 10-plus yards against the Cowboys, helping the Yellow Jackets to their third consecutive winning season.
 
Honorable Mention: Emmanuel Fincher, CSU Pueblo; Preston Pearson, Chadron State; Jack Burke, Colorado Mesa; Joseph Capra, Colorado School of Mines; Holden Gilbert, South Dakota Mines; Drew Nash, Western Colorado.
 
Defensive Player of the Week:
Hayden Gregg, Colorado School of Mines (Senior (RS), Middle Linebacker, Kansas City, Missouri)
Gregg was all over the field in Colorado School of Mines’ 67-9 victory against Fort Lewis, finishing with a team-best eight tackles, including 2.5 for loss and 2.0 sacks. He also forced a fumble as part of a strip sack and intercepted a pass to lead a defensive effort that allowed only 28 rushing yards and 135 total yards.
 
Honorable Mention: Nicc Quinones, Black Hills State; Makeah Scippio, CSU Pueblo; Sutton Pohlman, Chadron State; Colin Stuhr, Colorado Mesa; Caleb Franklin, South Dakota Mines; Ricky Freymond, Western Colorado.
 
Special Teams Player of the Week
Shallum Peter, CSU Pueblo (Freshman (RS), Linebacker, Dallas, Texas)
Peter’s blocked punt in the third quarter helped turn the tide in CSU Pueblo’s 38-21 come-from-behind win at Chadron State. With the game tied 21-21 late in the third quarter, Peter blocked a punt and tackled the punter after he recovered the loose ball on the two-yard line. Two plays later, the ThunderWolves scored the go-ahead touchdown for a 28-21 lead they would not relinquish. It was Peter’s third blocked kick this season – fourth most in Division II.
