DENVER, Colo. – Host and No. 1 seed Metropolitan State Univeristy of Denver defeated Colorado Christian 3-0 in the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament to win the eighth tournament crown in program history. Senior outside hitter Riley Anderson was named the 2024 RMAC Volleyball Tournament Most Valuable Player following a 13 kill performance on .478 hitting in the championship match.
Saturday's Match
Match 7: #6 Colorado Christian at #1 MSU Denver
MSU Denver claimed the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship with a dominant 3-0 victory over Colorado Christian. From the opening serve, the No. 1 seed established their authority, with senior Delaney Eckhardt recording a service ace to kick off the match. Energized by a raucous home crowd, the Roadrunners quickly seized control, racing to a 7-1 lead that set the tone for the rest of the match. MSU Denver’s offensive firepower was on full display, with 14 kills leading them to a commanding 25-12 victory in the first set, as they limited the Cougars to a .380 hitting percentage. The Roadrunners didn’t let up in the second set, surging to a 10-3 advantage behind .464 hitting. Though Colorado Christian fought back with nine kills of their own, MSU Denver’s efficiency proved too much, as the Roadrunners secured the set 25-13. In the third set, the Cougars came out with renewed energy, taking an early 2-0 lead. The set remained tightly contested, with neither team holding a lead larger than one point until MSU Denver began to pull away at the 15-point mark. The Roadrunners closed out the match in style, finishing the set with a 10-4 run to win 25-19 and capture the 2024 RMAC Volleyball Championship.
Joining Anderson on the 2024 All-Tournament team are teammates Alyssa Boyte, Delaney Eckhardt, and Abbie McCrimmon. The Cougars earned two roster spots on the All-Tournament team with senior Abby Newell and graduate student Izzy Jones. Setters Sabrina VanDeList and Regan Hickey round out the All-Tournament roster, representing Colorado Mesa and Regis, respectively
