Park, Benes, and VanDeList Named RMAC Volleyball Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 9 RMAC Volleyball Players of the Week on Monday. Western Colorado’s Seyun Park, South Dakota Mines’ Hannah Benes, and Colorado Mesa’s Sabrina VanDeList claimed the conference’s latest weekly awards.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Seyun Park, Western Colorado (Sr., MB, Anyang, South Korea)
Park led the Mountaineers to three victories, including two in power pod play. The senior started the week with a 3-1 victory over South Dakota Mines, collecting 22 kills on .444 hitting. Park recorded 21 more kills over two games in power pod play, boosting her hitting percentage to .420 over the week. On the week, the middle blocker tallied 43 kills, 4.30 kills per set, and 4.55 points per set. With the help of Park, Western Colorado currently holds the No. 7 spot in the RMAC standings.

Defensive Player of the Week: Hannah Benes, South Dakota Mines (Jr., DS/L, Antioch, Illinois)
Benes continued to shine for the Hardrockers as they improved to 14-8 this season. The 2023 Second Team All-RMAC honoree recorded 17-dig performances against Western Colorado and Colorado State University Pueblo and an outstanding 27-dig outing against Chadron State. Over the three matches, the Antioch, Illinois native had 61 digs and 11 service aces, leading the Hardrockers to a 2-1 record. Benes currently ranks third in the RMAC in digs, with 393 (4.79) on the season.

Setter of the Week: Sabrina VanDeList, Colorado Mesa (R-Sr., S, Severance, Colorado)
VanDeList led the Mavericks to a pair of power pod wins and tallied her 49th career double-double over the weekend. VanDeList started the weekend with a 39-assist outing against Regis, as the Mavericks swept the Rangers. In her next match, the four-time Setter of the Week tallied 36 assists, 11.5 points, and seven kills as the Mavs toppled the No. 1 team in the nation, Metropolitan State University of Denver. VanDeList leads the RMAC in assists with 949 (12.17 per set), clearing second place by 99 assists and ranking tenth in NCAA DII.
