COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The first significant winter storm of 2024 has impacted the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship and a pair of volleyball matches.
The women’s soccer championship, slated to begin Friday with No. 7 seed Fort Lewis hosting No. 8 seed Regis in Durango, has been postponed until Saturday due to difficult driving conditions caused by the storm. That postponement has the knock-on effect of forcing the quarterfinal match involving No. 2 seed Colorado Mesa and the winner of that first-round game back one day to Monday.
The other two quarterfinal games are unaffected and will be played on Sunday. No. 3 seed MSU Denver hosts No. 6 seed Westminster in Denver, while No. 4 seed University of Colorado Colorado Springs hosts No. 5 seed Colorado Christian.
The tournament semifinals will also be pushed back one day. Hosted by No. 1 seed Colorado School of Mines in Golden, the semifinal round is set for Thursday, Nov. 14, with the championship to follow as initially scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Stermole Soccer Stadium.
Elsewhere, the storm has forced the postponement of two RMAC volleyball matches. New Mexico Highlands, based in Las Vegas, New Mexico, has been socked in by heavy snow, delaying travel to its matches at Westminster and Colorado Mesa. Those matches have been pushed back a day to allow the Cowgirls additional travel time.
All RMAC Championship events, including all seven women’s soccer championship matches, will be broadcast pay-per-view on the RMAC Network. Purchase options for the fall championships were announced earlier Wednesday and are available at RMACSports.org/buyRMACtv.
Tickets for all RMAC Championship contests are available at RMACSports.org/tickets.
