Chadron State’s Wright and CSU Pueblo’s Cooper Capture Latest RMAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 6 RMAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards on Monday. Chadron State’s Zy Wright earns the Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Colorado State University Pueblo’s De’Shaun Cooper claims the Defensive Player of the Week award.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Zy Wright, Chadron State (Sr., Guard, Lincolnton, Georgia)
Wright had a career weekend for the Eagles, as he set and matched his career high in scoring. Against CSU Pueblo, the senior guard shot 50% from the field, 67% from three-point range, and 100% from the free throw stripe. His efforts earned him a career-high 24 points. Wright immediately matched his mark against the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, scoring 24 points while collecting six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. In his two matchups against Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) regionally ranked opponents, Wright totaled 48 points on 54% shooting, 14 rebounds, four steals, and three assists all while leading his team to 66-62 and 84-79 victories, respectively.

Defensive Player of the Week: De’Shaun Cooper, CSU Pueblo (Sr., Forward, San Diego, California)
In the Pack’s two home conference games, Cooper made his presence known, recording back-to-back double-doubles for CSU Pueblo. In a close contest against Chadron State, the San Diego, California native recorded ten rebounds and two blocked shots. In addition to his defensive efforts, Cooper added 12 points on 67% shooting and two assists. In Saturday’s game against South Dakota Mines, Cooper again had a double-double, with 15 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, two blocks, and two steals. His performance led the Eagles to a 68-58 victory. The senior currently ranks within the Top 25 in the conference in scoring (12.2 ppg) and the Top 5 in rebounds (7.5 rpg).
