Retzlaff, Freymond Named D2CCA Super Region 4 Players of the Year

Twenty-One RMAC student-athletes named to the 52-person All-Super Region 4 Teams

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Colorado State University Pueblo’s Reggie Retzlaff and Western Colorado University’s Ricky Freymond, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference football Players of the Year, are the 2024 NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association’s (D2CCA) Super Region 4 Players of the Year, announced Thursday.
 
Retzlaff and Freymond lead a group of 21 RMAC student-athletes named to the D2CCA All-Super Region 4 Football Teams, listed below. A total of 52 student-athletes were named to the All-Super Region 4 squads, representing the 33 teams from the RMAC, Lone Star Conference, and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
 
Retzlaff finished the regular season with 64 receptions for 1,169 yards and 12 touchdowns. Retzlaff set or tied the CSU Pueblo single-season marks in all three categories and is the program’s second receiver to record 1,000 yards in a season. He was third among Division II receivers with 116.9 yards per game and eighth in receiving touchdowns. Retzlaff did his best work in RMAC play, with 50 receptions for 854 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
 
Freymond led the RMAC with 20 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks during the regular season, averaging 5.1 tackles per game. Freymond was fifth among Division II athletes with 1.8 tackles for loss per game and ninth with 0.86 sacks per game. He carried that effort into league play, where he had league-bests with 18 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.
                             
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
