Austin Fadal and Mario Lacy, Jr. Seize RMAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adams State’s (8-14, 6-10 RMAC) Austin Fadal and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s (15-7, 9-7 RMAC) Mario Lacy, Jr. are the Week 12 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.
 
Offensive Player of the Week: Austin Fadal | Adams State | R-Sr. | G | San Ramon, Calif.
Fadal was instrumental in the Grizzlies’ undefeated weekend, as the redshirt senior averaged 24.5 points per game on 72% shooting. The San Ramon, Calif., native started the weekend with an explosive 27 points against New Mexico Highlands and guided Adams State to a 13-point victory over the Cowboys. In Saturday’s tight win against Colorado State University Pueblo, Fadal tallied 22 points and three assists on 77% shooting from the field. With only one three point make on the weekend, Fadal was doing most of his work from inside the arc and free throw line, converting 12-for-15 at the charity stripe.

Defensive Player of the Week: Mario Lacy, Jr. | MSU Denver | Sr. | F | Cleveland, Ohio
Lacy dominated the glass for the Roadrunners in their flawless weekend against South Dakota Mines and Black Hills State. In Friday’s win against South Dakota Mines, Lacy tallied 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots. His momentum carried over to Saturday’s contest against Black Hills State as he recorded 15 points, eight rebounds and another pair of blocks in the victory. All-in-all, Lacy averaged 13.5 points per game, 8.5 rebounds and two blocks on 52% shooting from the field. Behind the RMAC’s leading rebounder (8.7), the Roadrunners move into a tie for fourth in the league standings.
