COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ (21-6, 15-4 RMAC) Majok Deng and Colorado Mesa’s (23-3, 19-1 RMAC) Trevor Baskin are the Week 14 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Offensive Player of the Week: Majok Deng | Colorado School of Mines | R-Sr. | G | Tucson, Ariz.
Majok Deng put on an offensive masterclass for the Orediggers in their lone victory over Chadron State. Deng carried the team offensively throughout the matchup, as he tallied 42 points on 60% shooting. The redshirt senior was extremely effective from the three-point stripe and foul line, as he shot 63% and 100%, respectively. With his incredible performance, Deng is only the sixth player in program history to record a 40-point game and the first player with multiple games of 30+ points in the same season since the Orediggers 2015-16 season. Behind Deng, Pryor Orser, Colorado School of Mines’ head coach, was able to make RMAC history with 442 career wins, making him the RMAC men’s basketball all-time career wins leader. The Orediggers currently hold the No. 3 overall position in the RMAC and are ranked 21st in the nation. Colorado School of Mines has three games remaining on their schedule, including a rescheduled game against Colorado Christian. The last game of the Orediggers’ regular season will take place on Saturday, March 2, against the No. 1 team in the RMAC and the No. 3 team in the nation, Fort Lewis.

Honorable Mention: Matthew Ragsdale, Black Hills State; Trevor Baskin, Colorado Mesa; Makiah Morris, CSU Pueblo; Malik Whitaker, Fort Lewis; Caleb McGill, MSU Denver; Keagan Smith, South Dakota Mines; Trey Wood, Westminster.

Defensive Player of the Week: Trevor Baskin | Colorado Mesa | R-Jr. | F | Arvada, Colo.
Trevor Baskin was absolutely dominant on both ends for the Mavericks in their pair of victories over the weekend. Baskin started the weekend with a scorching 43 points, nine rebound and six assist performance against New Mexico Highlands. On the defensive end, the redshirt junior tallied four steals and two blocks while grabbing seven of his nine rebounds. Baskin’s 43 points is the highest point total in the RMAC this season, coming just short of the Colorado Mesa all-time record. Baskin followed up this performance with a solid 17-point outing against Colorado State University Pueblo. On top of his scoring, Baskin recorded eight rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block en route to the Mavericks 82-80 victory. For the weekend, the forward averaged 30 points with 8.5 rebounds while recording 10 assists, five steals and three blocks. The Mavericks are currently tied for first place in the RMAC and hold the No. 6 overall position in the latest national rankings. With two games remaining on their regular season schedule, Colorado Mesa hopes to take sole control of the No. 1 seed in the RMAC heading into the 2024 RMAC Men’s Basketball Tournament.
