COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ Loic Scomparin and Colorado Mesa‘s Salem Brunk are the Week Six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Loic Scomparin, Colorado School of Mines – R-Sr. – Dublin, Calif.
Scomparin was dominant at the Colorado Invitational, hosted by the University of Colorado over the weekend. Against Division I competition, Scomparin won the men’s mile with a time of 4:03.61, which has since been adjusted for altitude to a converted time of 3:57.67. That altitude-adjusted time currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division II this season. His impressive mile time stands as the fastest mile performance on Colorado soil in Colorado School of Mines history. It also stands as the fastest mile run on Colorado soil by an RMAC student-athlete in the history of the TFRRS database, which dates back to 2011. Scomparin now holds the third best mile time in Oredigger history and the fourth best time in the RMAC this season. The Orediggers will be back in action on February 9, as they will travel to Boston, Mass., to compete in the David Hemery Valentin Invitational.

Honorable Mention: Grey Logsdon, Chadron State; Kade Christensen, Colorado Mesa; Noel Lopez, MSU Denver; Kymani Sterling, UCCS; Simon Kelati, Western Colorado.

Brunk claimed his first career win in the triple jump for the Mavericks over the weekend at the Big Red Machine Open. The freshman posted a mark of 14.14 meters in his event, a performance good enough for a first-place finish. Brunk now holds the seventh best triple jump performance in the RMAC this season and stands eighth all-time in Colorado Mesa history. The Mavericks will travel to the Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan., to partake in the Ninth Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State.
