2024 RMAC Hall of Fame Class Announced

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced its 2024 Hall of Fame class, which will consist of six individuals and a pair of men’s basketball teams. Among the list of six individuals are former student-athletes who competed in the RMAC in men’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s track and field and cross country, as well as football and men’s wrestling. Additionally, a former institutional president joins the list alongside a pair of national champion men’s basketball programs.
 
Dr. Stephen Jordan | MSU Denver President
Former Metropolitan State University of Denver President Dr. Stephen Jordan headlines the 2024 Hall of Fame class as the lone administrator after elevating the MSU Denver campus throughout his time leading the institution. He led the MSU Denver campus for 11 years and was a tremendous supporter of athletics along the way. During Jordan’s tenure, softball, women’s golf and men’s and women’s track & field programs were all added to the Roadrunners’ athletic department. As a champion for change, he was an instrumental force behind the construction of the Regency Athletic Complex for men’s and women’s soccer, baseball, softball and tennis. Dr. Jordan also served for two years as the Chair of the NCAA Division II Presidents Council as well as the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
 
Diana Lopez | Regis Women’s Basketball
Former Regis women’s basketball standout Diana Lopez joins the latest Hall of Fame class after an incredible career for the Rangers. Not only was she named to the RMAC’s All-Century team in 2009, but she was also voted the Most Valuable Player among the league’s All-Centry roster. While she donned the blue and gold from 2003 to 2007, she was named the RMAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in each of her final three seasons as well as the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. She earned multiple All-America nods and ranks second all-time in RMAC history with 1,996 points.
 
John Cunliffe | Fort Lewis Men’s Soccer
From the campus of Fort Lewis College, John Cunliffe joins the latest RMAC Hall of Fame class after an outstanding career for the Skyhawks’ men’s soccer program from 2003 to 2006. Cunliffe was incredibly decorated during his time in Durango, Colo., and led the Skyhawks to a national title in the 2005 season. A four-time RMAC All-Conference First Team selection, Cunliffe was also named the Most Valuable Player of the RMAC Men’s Soccer All-Century Team. A three-time RMAC Player of the Year, he was also named the 2006 NCAA Division II Player of the Year after netting 26 goals alongside 16 assists in his senior campaign. Following his collegiate career with the Skyhawks, Cunliffe was drafted seventh overall in the Major League Soccer Entry Draft by Chivas USA.
 
Jennifer Warner Ramsey | Nebraska-Kearney Women’s Basketball
Nebraska-Kearney’s Jennifer Warner Ramsey enters the class for the Lopers after an extensive women’s basketball career within the RMAC from 1995-1997. She was crowned the RMAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year in her two seasons in the league and led UNK to a 54-8 record in those two seasons. In each of her two seasons at Nebraska-Kearney, she led her team to a pair of NCAA DII South Central Championship berths while averaging 13.1 points, 5.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.9 steals. In Ramsey’s senior campaign, Nebraska-Kearney captured its best record in program history with a 28-3 overall mark.
 
Martin Johns | Adams State Men’s Cross Country / Track & Field
Adams State’s Martin Johns joins the RMAC Hall of Fame after an illustrious career with the Grizzlies’ prestigious men’s cross country and track & field programs. From 1988-1992, Johns earned All-America distinctions and incredible 15 times. Throughout his career, he won five national titles in indoor track and was a key figure in the Grizzlies’ 1990 and 1992 NAIA indoor track & field national championships. He still holds school records in the 800m and 1,000m events and was named to the RMAC All-Century Team in 2009 nine. Upon finishing his collegiate career, Johns went on to compete in the 1,500m event at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
 
Julius “Hans” Wagner | Colorado State Football / Wrestling / Track & Field
Rounding out the list of individuals in the 2024 RMAC Hall of Fame class is Julius “Hans” Wagner, a former three-sport athlete at Colorado State from 1923 to 1927. As a student-athlete for the Rams, Wagner was named a three-time all-conference football honoree, won four conference wrestling titles and set conference records in the discus and shot put events for track & field. As a captain in the 1925 season, Wagner led Colorado State to its first nine-win season and the league title. Following his playing career, Wagner was named the wrestling head coach and led the squad to 26 conference championships.
 
MSU Denver 1999-2000 and 2001-2002 | Men’s Basketball Teams
Completing the list for the 2024 RMAC Hall of Fame Class are the 1999-2000 and 2001-02 MSU Denver men’s basketball programs. In each of those seasons, the Roadrunners blazed the way to national championships behind head coach Mike Dunlap. With a combined record of 62-10 over those two seasons, the Roadrunners were elite and toppled Kentucky Wesleyan in each of its National Championship appearances. The 1999-2000 team outscored opponents by an average of 19.1 points per game, while the 2001-02 squad compiled a 6-0 record against nationally ranked opponents.

The 2024 RMAC Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be hosted on Thursday, July 11, inside the Colorado Springs Marriot in Colorado Springs, Colo. Doors will open at 5 p.m. MT with the induction and awards ceremony to follow promptly at 6 p.m.
