2023-24 RMAC Men's Indoor Track & FIeld All-Academic Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Justin Thompson is the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Academic Athlete of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. Announced with Thompson’s award was the 2023-24 RMAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field First Team and Academic Honor Roll. RMAC All-Academic rosters are voted on by the league’s 15 sports information directors.
Thompson claims the 2023-24 RMAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Academic Athlete of the Year award with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in athletic training. Thompson claims his third consecutive Academic Athlete of the Year honor after an extremely successful 2023-24 indoor track & field season. Thompson got the season off to a hot start, as he earned an RMAC Field Athlete of the Week nod in the opening week of the season. He kept this momentum going throughout the season, as he claimed a gold medal in the long jump at the 2024 RMAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and a finish in the top-10 at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Seven RMAC institutions are represented on this year’s All-Academic First Team, with Colorado School of Mines leading all schools with four roster spots. Colorado Christian and University of Colorado Colorado Springs both claim three spots on the All-Academic roster, while Chadron State earns two roster spots. Black Hills State, Colorado Mesa and Western Colorado each earn one roster spot on the 2023-24 All-Academic First Team roster.
