Myah Arrieta and Jenna Medhus Seize RMAC Softball Weekly Honors
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s (23-7, 21-3 RMAC) Myah Arrieta and Metropolitan State University of Denver’s (29-7, 22-2 RMAC) Jenna Medhus are the Week Eight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.

Arietta raked this weekend for the Mavericks, as she helped guide her team to a series sweep of Black Hills State. In the first game of the series, the junior racked up three total hits, with two leaving the yard. She had an impressive encore, homering twice and driving in three runs in Friday’s nightcap. Saturday’s doubleheader was memorable for the Grand Junction, Colo., native, as she tied a Colorado Mesa record with three home runs in a single game. She complimented her slugging with a two-for-three final game and two RBIs. In the four games, Arietta tallied a staggering stat line of 14 RBIs, 13 hits, 11 runs and eight home runs. Her dominant outing has the Mavs firmly in the RMAC title race this season, while Arietta individually tops the league in slugging percentage, on base plus slugging percentage, runs scored and home runs.

Pitcher of the Week: Jenna Medhus | MSU Denver | So. | P/UTL | Parker, Colo.
Medhus had an outstanding weekend for the RMAC-leading Roadrunners, as she pitched 11 total innings. On the weekend, the sophomore allowed six hits and two walks, struck out seven and held the Mountain Lions to a .162 batting average. In her first outing of the weekend, the Parker, Colo., native pitched five shutout innings against University of Colorado Colorado Springs, leading to a 7-0 victory for the Roadrunners. In her next appearance, Medhus went the full six innings allowing just four and punched out six in a run-rule shortened victory. Against league competition, Medhus is 8-0 with a 3.32 ERA, ranking second in wins and ninth in earned-run average.
