COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its 2023-24 Women’s Swimming and Diving major award winners alongside its all-conference rosters on Thursday. Colorado Mesa’s Agata Naskret earns the league’s Swimmer of the Year honor, while her teammate Jenna Hurley is the RMAC Diver of the Year. League newcomer Simon Fraser’s Laine Perry received the Freshman of the Year honor, while Colorado Mesa head coach Mickey Wender secured his second consecutive Coach of the Year distinction. These major awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches, and coaches are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

Naskret is the RMAC Swimmer of the Year following her five national championship swims at the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The Pole won the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke titles, while also being a member of the Mavs’ three winning relay teams (400-yard medley relay, the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay). Naskret’s swims aided the Mavs to the best finish in program history at the National Championships, finishing second as a team and scoring 461.5 points. The sophomore earned six RMAC First-Team All-Conference nods in her extremely successful 2023-24 season.

CMU’s Hurley claims the Diver of the Year award in her debut season in Grand Junction, Colo. The Texan secured Woman Co-Diver of the Meet honors at the RMAC Championships and won gold in the 3-meter dive at the meet. Her efforts helped the Mavs’ win their sixth straight RMAC title, the longest stretch of consecutive titles in conference history. Hurley earned three conference Diver of the Week awards in her first season as a Maverick.

Perry receives the RMAC Freshman of the Year honor in her first year at Simon Fraser as well as the program’s first season in the conference. The native Canadian excelled for her home country’s institution, culminating in an RMAC First-Team All-Conference selection as a member of the Red Leafs’ silver medal-winning 400-yard freestyle relay team. Simon Fraser finished in third place at the RMAC meet, scoring 626.5 points and finishing just 11 points behind second. At the NCAA National Championships, Perry was a member of the 800-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard freestyle relay squads that each secured a top-seven finish.

Wender grasps his second straight Coach of the Year nod and secures the outright honor this season. His Maverick squad had seven national championship winning swims in Ohio, tied for the most of any school at the meet. With Wender leading the charge, CMU finished as the national runner-up with 461.5 team points, both marks were the program’s best and the all-time best finish by an RMAC institution. Wender adds the conference honor to his first ever Division II Women’s National Coach of the Year award, as recently announced.

The record-setting Mavericks earned 41 all-conference selections, including 27 first-team honorees. RMAC newcomer Simon Fraser checked in with 14 roster spots, followed by Oklahoma Christian’s 13 all-conference finishes. Colorado School of Mines had eight honorees, while Western Colorado (three spots), Colorado State University Pueblo (three spots) and University of Texas Permian Basin (two spots) rounded out the rosters.

The top two finishers in each event at the 2024 RMAC Swimming and Diving Championships receive First-Team All-Conference, while the third and fourth place finishers get second-team distinctions.
