COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adam State’s Romain Legendre and Colorado Mesa’s Miller Jones are the Week Five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Romain Legendre | Adams State | Jr. | Carpentras, France
Legendre made NCAA Division II history for Adams State at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. The junior broke the NCAA DII record in the 5000-meter with a time of 13:16.53, beating out the previous record by nearly six seconds. This mark places him atop the NCAA DII list and third on the All-Collegiate list. Internationally, Legendre’s 5000m time is the top mark by any senior-level French athlete. With his performance, the Frenchman qualifies for the European Athletics Championships on June 6-12 in Rome, Italy.

Following his record-setting performance, Legendre competed in the 1500m and recorded a time of 3:41.84, the best mark in NCAA DII on the weekend. Up next for the Grizzlies is a trip to Albuquerque, N.M., to compete in the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational, hosted by University of New Mexico.

Honorable Mention: Ryan Clapper, Chadron State; Kelsey Montague, Colorado Mesa; JJ Ramey, MSU Denver; Jagger Zlotoff, UCCS; Eddie Siuda, Western Colorado.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Miller Jones | Colorado Mesa | Fr. | Grand Junction, Colo.
Jones leaped to a pair of victories in the long and triple jumps over the weekend for the Mavericks. At the Maverick Invite #2, the Grand Junction, Colo., native won the triple jump with a performance of 15.61m, a mark that places him third on the NCAA DII performance list and atop the RMAC this season. His leap matched the wind-aided facility record after setting a legal track record of 15.60m on his prior attempt and now ranks second in program history with that mark. In the long jump, Jones recorded a leap of 7.53m to rank 14th nationally and third in the RMAC.

The Mavericks will take the weekend off, preparing to host the 2024 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at their home track.
