South Dakota Mines’ Braydon Jones and CMU’s Cassidy Phelan Earn 2023-24 RMAC Golf Summit Awards
BOULDER CITY, Nev. – South Dakota Mines’ Braydon Jones and Colorado Mesa’s Cassidy Phelan are the 2023-24 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s and Women’s Golf Summit Award Winners, respectively, announced Sunday. Both student-athletes received the highest academic honor after holding perfect 4.0 grade-point averages (GPA).
Jones achieved a stunning GPA in his electrical engineering program, having completed 111 credit hours. Additionally, the junior from Aberdeen, S.D., collects his second consecutive Summit Award honor. Staying in his home state of South Dakota, Jones has helped his Hardrocker teammates to five top-10 finishes this season.
Phelan’s sparking GPA is recognized after attaining 71 credit hours in her business administration program. The junior from Henderson, Nev., returns to her home state in hopes of guiding the Mavericks to a conference championship. Phelan opened the spring slate with back-to-back individual titles and earned Colorado Mesa’s only Women’s Golfer of the Week honor this season for her efforts.
Jones and Phelan were recognized for their academic achievements with the Summit Award at Saturday’s pre-championship dinner at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
