Women’s Standings – Round 1

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – The Colorado State University Pueblo women started their title defense in a strong way as they lead after the first round of the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nev. The Thunderwolves’ Freya Constable and South Dakota Mines’ Annika Schooler shot rounds of 69 to open the individual scoring and sit atop that leaderboard after the first 18 holes.

The ThunderWolves were the only team to not shoot over par, as they remained even on Sunday. CSU Pueblo holds a nine-shot lead over Regis entering Monday’s play after their performance leaning on Constable’s great round. The Pack added key rounds from Kylie Severin, Anju Ogi and Zoey Rodriguez to pace themselves to the first-round lead. The four ladies combined for 15 birdies on the day, with Rodriguez knocking down four of those on the back nine.

Regis recorded a team score of 297 and remained the closest to CSU Pueblo during most of the day’s action. The Rangers’ Caroline Giocondo led the squad after her round of even par 72 and helps keep pace with the Pack. Meredith Boos and Zoe Garcia contributed to the Rangers’ strong second place score and sit among the top 20 golfers after 18 holes.

Colorado Mesa and Metropolitan State University of Denver lurk directly behind Regis, having team scores of 298 and 299, respectively. The Roadrunners hit the most pars in round one, carding 62 of them, while the Mavs were tied for the second most with 56 pars. Colorado Mesa played the par-3s the best, averaging three strokes for even par. Each team has three golfers inside the top-20 and look to surge into the second round with some momentum.

Chadron State follows in fifth place at 15-over, while Colorado Christian and South Dakota Mines are tied for sixth with team scores of 304. The Hardrockers could have the edge, especially with co-leader Schooler guiding their squad. Schooler hit six birdies en route to her excellent opening round, highlighted with back-to-back on holes 16 and 17.

Fort Lewis sits in eighth with a 309 team score, while Westminster (+32), Black Hills State (+67) and Adams State (+111) complete the women’s standings.
