Simon Kelati and Hunter Potrykus Named RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Colorado’s Simon Kelati and Colorado School of Mines’ Hunter Potrykus are the Week Three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the league announced Wednesday.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week: Simon Kelati | Western Colorado | R-Jr. | Greeley, Colo.
Kelati was dominant for the Mountaineers over the weekend at the Chuck Haering Open Invitational where he captured first place in the 1,500-meter race with a raw time of 3:48.59. His altitude adjusted time of 3:43.78 stands as a NCAA provisional effort and ranks second within the RMAC this season. On the national stage, Kelati’s performance is the fourth-best time in NCAA Division II performance this season. Over the weekend, the redshirt junior was one of four first-place finishers for the Mountaineers. Western Colorado will be back in action on Sunday, April 7, at the Maverick Invite & Multi, hosted by Colorado Mesa, in Grand Junction, Colo.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week: Hunter Potrykus | Colorado School of Mines | Sr. | Berthoud, Colo.
Potrykus had quite the weekend in the pole vault for the Orediggers, as Colorado School of Mines also traveled to Pueblo, Colo., to compete in the Chuck Haering Open Invitational. At the meet, Potrykus reset his RMAC outdoor pole vault record, clearing the 5.37m mark to claim a first-place finish. The Berthoud, Colo., native went a centimeter higher than his previous best to earn a mark that currently stands second among NCAA DII this season and 22nd all-time. Up next for the Orediggers is the Maverick Invite & Multi in Grand Junction, Colo.
