Mines’ Cassidy Chvatal and CMU’s Preslee Christensen Capture Final RMAC Softball Weekly Awards of Season
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines’ (29-21, 25-17 RMAC) Cassidy Chvatal and Colorado Mesa’s (43-7, 41-3 RMAC) Preslee Christensen have been named the Week 13 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.

Chvatal paced the Orediggers to a series sweep over the Grizzlies in the final weekend of the regular season. In the opening doubleheader, the junior went 3-for-4, scoring three runs and a pivotal sacrifice bunt in game one. After a night’s rest, the Broomfield, Colo., native returned to the diamond with her eye on the prize, earning her first three-hit game of the season. In her 3-for-4 outing, Chvatal recorded three RBIs, a double, a home run and one run scored. She carried this performance into the second game of the day, going 1-for-2 at the plate with two more RBIs, a triple and two runs scored. On the weekend, Chvatal was responsible for 11 of the Orediggers' 32 runs while hitting for the cycle in Friday’s doubleheader. The Orediggers enter postseason play as the four seed in the 2024 RMAC Softball Tournament in Grand Junction, Colo., setting up a showdown with No. 5 Regis.

Pitcher of the Week: Preslee Christensen | Colorado Mesa | Jr. | RHP | Herber City, Utah
Christensen painted the corners for the Mavericks over the weekend. In two games, the Herber City, Utah, native went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, giving up an unearned run and held the ThunderWolves to a .231 batting average. On Friday, Christensen pitched all seven inning and struck out five. In Saturday's win, the junior recorded her sixth shutout of the season, leading the Mavericks to the RMAC regular season title and the rights to host the 2024 RMAC Softball Tournament. On the season, Christensen is 17-3 with a league-best 1.99 ERA. After claiming the regular season championship, Christensen and the Mavericks get a first-round bye in the bracket and will play their first game on Thursday afternoon.
