Colorado Mesa’s Hania Halverson Named 2023-24 RMAC Women’s Wrestling Academic Athlete of the Year
2023-24 RMAC Women’s Wrestling All-Academic Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa’s Hania Halverson is the 2023-24 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Wrestling Academic Athlete of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. Halverson headlines the RMAC All-Academic First Team as a sophomore exercise science major with a flawless 4.0 grade-point average. The RMAC Women’s Wrestling All-Academic First Team is nominated and voted on by the league’s five sports information directors. Sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes. The RMAC Women's Wrestling All-Academic First Team is sponsored by Barnes and Noble.
Halverson, a 4.0 exercise science major, has been named a 2024 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American after claiming a 23-9 individual record this season. She claimed the RMAC conference title within the 123-pound weight class and led the Mavericks with 17 wins by fall. Halverson closed the year with a 10-6 record in duals, including a 3-1 mark against RMAC opponents. She placed fifth at the regional championship and has compiled a 36-21 individual record throughout her two years with the Colorado Mesa program.
Chadron State, Colorado Mesa and Texas Woman’s lead the RMAC All-Academic First Team with three selections apiece, while Adams State rounds out the first-team roster with one honoree. Of the 10 student-athletes named to the first team, Halverson and Chadron State’s Shania Wear lead the way with perfect 4.0 GPAs.
To qualify for the RMAC All-Academic First Team, student-athletes must carry a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA through the most recently completed term. Qualifiers must also have been a student at their respective institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters and must use a season of competition.
