Eleven RMAC Baseball Athletes Earn D2CCA All-South Central Region Honors
CANYON, Texas – Five Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference institutions were represented on the 2024 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CAA) All-South Central Region teams, announced Thursday. Eleven total student-athletes were chosen, with eight on the first team and three on the second team.
Colorado Mesa earned four distinctions as Jonathan Gonzalez, Rob Sharrar and Cole Seward were selected to the first team and Caleb Ruter held a second-team spot. The Mavericks complete the RMAC Championship sweep, winning their 12th straight regular season crown and a second consecutive tournament title. Gonzalez hit .600 during the four-day tournament and was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Metropolitan State University of Denver also earned four honorees, with two players on each team. Outfielder Jesse Velders and designated hitter Zack Schuler claimed first team spots, while first baseman Jake Williams and utilityman Caleb Albaugh were selected to the second team. The Roadrunners slugged .586 as a team, the second highest in the RMAC, and hit 156 doubles, the most in the league.
Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University Pueblo and Regis each garnered one selection apiece. The Orediggers’ Luke Folsom earned the two-way utilityman/pitcher slot on the first team. The senior finished with the best ERA in the RMAC, posting a 4.87 over 64.2 innings. Tyler Curtis added an All-Region First Team honor to his impressive 2024 resume, having secured the league’s Pitcher of the Year award for the ThunderWolves. Rangers relief pitcher Ethan Sloan grabbed a first-team selection following his RMAC-leading eight saves.
