2023-24 RMAC Men’s Golf All-Academic Release

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – South Dakota Mines’ Braydon Jones is the 2023-24 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Academic Player of the Year, the league announced Thursday. Jones headlines the list of eight honorees among the RMAC Men’s Golf All-Academic First Team roster. The junior claims his academic honor with a flawless 4.0 grade-point average as an electrical engineering major. Five institutions are represented among the league’s All-Academic First Team. The RMAC All-Academic First Team is nominated and voted on by the league’s eight sports information directors. Sports information directors are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

Jones claims the academic honor after a strong season for the Hardockers during the 2023-24 campaign, where he steered his team to a seventh-place finish at the RMAC Men’s Golf Championship. He closed the year with an 81.6 stroke average and did so after tying for a 32nd-place individual finish at the conference championship. He ranks among the South Central region’s top-200 players, a strong contingent, and earned 41 wins throughout the season. Additionally, he was named the RMAC Summit Award winner, an honor bestowed upon the player competing at the conference championship with the highest cumulative GPA.

Colorado Christian, Colorado Mesa and Colorado State University Pueblo wrapped up voting with two first-team selections each. Colorado School of Mines and South Dakota Mines each earned one honoree to close out the league’s first team.

Of the eight honorees on the first-team roster, Jones and CSU Pueblo’s Evan Smith earned 4.0 GPAs.
