MSU Denver’s Zane Covey Named 2024 RMAC Baseball Summit Award Winner

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Zane Covey earns the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Baseball Summit Award, announced Wednesday. Covey claims a 4.0 grade-point average after completing 87 credit hours in his business administration program.
 
The junior lefty has appeared in 17 games this season for the Roadrunners, totaling 18 innings of work. Covey is 2-3 in 2024 with a 7.50 ERA and one save. The Golden, Colo., native has 15 strikeouts on the bump for MSU Denver this season from a submarine arm slot.
 
Covey will help the fifth-seeded Roadrunners as they start their quest for a RMAC Tournament Championship against No. 2 Regis. The game is scheduled to conclude the first day of action on Wednesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. MT, live for pay-per-view purchase on the RMAC Network.
 
The junior pitcher will be recognized ahead of Wednesday’s nightcap with his prestigious academic honor in a pregame ceremony.
 
The RMAC Summit Award is awarded to a student-athlete who must be a sophomore or above academically and in their second year or later with their current institution. Student-athletes must be active members of their current roster, have competed in at least 20 percent of available competitions and travel and compete at the championship or tournament finals site. Student-athletes who transfer after completing their undergraduate degree are not eligible to win the award.
