COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Nebraska-Kearney was no stranger to success during the institution’s time as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. During that era, Jennifer Warner Ramsey was a trailblazer for the Lopers’ women’s basketball team during the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. While she only played two years for the UNK program, she experienced immense success during that stretch and led the Lopers to a combined 54-8 record.

In each of her two seasons, Warner Ramsey was crowned the RMAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. After spending her first two seasons of collegiate competition at Iowa State, Warner Ramsey joined the UNK program and immediately led it to an unbeaten run in conference play during her junior campaign. Along the way, the Lopers claimed the RMAC title and an opening-round win in the NCAA Division II South Central Championship.

She then returned for her senior season and picked up where she left off, this time guiding the Lopers to a 28-3 overall record for the program’s best single-season record in in history. Warner Ramsey and the UNK women’s basketball team matched their postseason run from the year prior and claimed a first-round win in the NCAA DII Regional Championship.

Throughout her two-year career at Nebraska-Kearney, Warner Ramsey was an incredibly well-rounded player and averaged 4.9 assists and 2.7 steals, each of which rank among the top three in program history for their respective categories. She dished out 177 dimes during her junior season, which still stands first all-time in UNK single-season records. She also racked up 124 assists as a senior, which ranks tied for No. 10 in single-season program history. Her junior campaign with 87 steals stacks up as the program’s fourth-best effort in that category, while her senior season concluded with 78 steals to earn the No. 5 spot in the Lopers’ single-season steals category.

Following her decorated career, she was inducted into the Nebraska-Kearney Athletics Hall of Fame with the 2008. In just two short years, Warner Ramsey left a mark with the Lopers and will undoubtedly remain in the UNK and RMAC record books for years to come.
