COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference named its Week 4 Players of the Week on Monday.
Colorado School of Mines’ Flynn Schiele put together Division II’s best-receiving performance this season, amassing 297 yards to pick up the league’s offensive honor to become the second Orediggers’ student-athlete who has won the weekly offensive award.
Thome grabbed a pair of interceptions and returned one for a touchdown to pick up the league’s weekly defensive award. It is the second time this season that a Colorado Mesa student-athlete has earned the defensive award.
Eisenbraun became the second Chadron State student-athlete to earn the league’s special teams award after averaging 49.0 yards per punt at Colorado Mesa.
Offensive Player of the Week:
Flynn Schiele, Colorado School of Mines (R-Junior, Wide Receiver, West Linn, Oregon)
Schiele’s 297 receiving yards were the most by a Division II receiver this season and helped the Colorado School of Mines secure a 52-24 victory against Black Hills State. He caught 13 of the 16 passes he was targeted on, averaging 22.8 yards per reception, and had three touchdown receptions. The 297 receiving yards are the second-most at all NCAA levels and 13 yards shy of the Orediggers record.

Defensive Player of the Week:
Jason Thome, Colorado Mesa (Sophomore, Safety, Arvada, Colorado)
Thome picked off a pair of passes – returning one for a touchdown – to lead a Colorado Mesa defensive unit that held Chadron State to 123 offensive yards in an 18-3 victory. His 55-yard pick-six came late in the third quarter and staked the Mavericks to an 18-0 lead. Thome’s second interception came on the game’s final play, sealing the victory. He also had four tackles in the victory.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Brodie Eisenbraun, Chadron State (R-Junior, Punter, Sturgis, South Dakota)
Eisenbraun averaged 49.0 yards on seven punts in Chadron State’s loss at Colorado Mesa. He helped keep Colorado Mesa bottled up throughout Saturday’s defensive battle, with three punts downed inside the 20-yard line, four punts of 50-plus yards, and no touchbacks. Eisenbraun also had a 64-yard punt in the first quarter that was downed at the Colorado Mesa six-yard line. .
