COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its latest RMAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards on Monday. Westminster’s Chase Potter and University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ William Becker earned the league’s offensive and defensive awards, respectively. This award marks the second for each student-athlete this season.
Offensive Player of the Week: Chase Potter, Westminster (Sr., Guard, Layton, Utah)
Potter delivered two remarkable performances to help the Griffins go 2-0 in conference play after the holiday break. In Thursday’s matchup against Adams State, the senior scored a game-high 31 points on 85% shooting. In addition to his scoring output, Potter recorded eight rebounds, four assists, and one block. Behind Potter, the Griffins defeated the Grizzlies 107-95. Two days later, the Layton, Utah native dropped another 30 points against Fort Lewis, this time on 65/50/100 shooting splits. In the dramatic triple-overtime thriller, Potter also added eight rebounds, two steals, and one assist to his stat line, pushing Westminster to a 113-108 victory. In total, the guard tallied 61 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and one block.

Defensive Player of the Week: William Becker, UCCS (Gr., Forward, Aurora, Colorado)
Becker anchored a UCCS defense that helped spring the Mountain Lions to a 3-0 week. In a 77-66 win against Western Colorado, the Aurora, Colorado native recorded two steals and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Becker also added 17 points against the Mountaineers, giving him his sixth double-double of the season. The graduate student returned to the court four days later in a road matchup against Colorado Christian. In his second matchup, Becker logged 23 minutes, recording 12 points and eight rebounds en route to an 84-59 victory. To cap off the week, the Mountain Lions squared off against Colorado State University Pueblo, defeating the ThunderWolves 82-60. In 31 minutes played, Becker sent back three shots, nabbed two steals, and grabbed four rebounds. On the weekend, the forward logged 80 minutes of action and recorded 40 points, 22 rebounds, four blocks, and four steals.

RMAC Men’s Basketball Approach – Week 9
Conference play continues in the RMAC; Multiple teams are nationally ranked
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball programs are back in the swing of the season, with Week 9 ready to tip off.
Colorado School of Mines and Metropolitan State University of Denver, selected as the top two teams in the RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll, are unbeaten in RMAC play and hold a two-game lead in the conference standings. The Orediggers will host Colorado State University Pueblo and Colorado Christian, while the Roadrunners will welcome Colorado Christian and University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

Colorado School of Mines Chosen as 2024 RMAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Favorite
- Colorado School of Mines is the preseason favorite, following the results of the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Orediggers top the preseason poll with 11 first-place votes and 191 total points. The poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their teams.
Keep an Eye On
- Kenard Richardson (New Mexico Highlands) is averaging a league-leading 17.4 points per game. On the season, Richardson is recording 49/36/75 percent shooting splits.
- Juani Dassie (Colorado School of Mines) is shooting 49% from three this season on 73 attempts. Nationally, Dassie’s three-point percentage is tied for sixth.
- William Becker (UCCS) currently leads the league in field goal percentage with an impressive 70%. The forward has won two RMAC Defensive Player of the Week awards and has six double-doubles on the season.
Two Programs in D2CSC South Central Region Rankings
- Colorado School of Mines and MSU Denver represent the RMAC in this week’s DII College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) South Central Region - Top 10. The Orediggers move up to the No. 1 spot, while the Roadrunners follow closely behind at No. 2. Both programs have remained consistent throughout 2024-25, holding a spot in the Top 10 all season.
- UCCS moved into the top 10, holding down the No. 10 rank in the South Central Region. The Mountain Lions are hot as of late, winning five games in a row.
Colorado School of Mines Ranked 15th Nationally in the Latest NABC Poll
- Colorado School of Mines is ranked 15th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches poll. With a 12-2 overall record and a perfect 6-0 start to conference play, the Orediggers are tied for the top spot in the RMAC rankings.
- MSU Denver moved back into the national ranks, earning the No. 22 spot. The Roadrunners are also 12-2 overall and are currently riding a three-game win streak. With matchups against Colorado Christian and UCCS up next on their schedule, the Roadrunners aim to climb the national ranks.
