Braybrook and Carroll Seize RMAC Women’s Track & Field Weekly Awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference released its Week 4 Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards, the league announced Thursday. Colorado State University Pueblo’s Helen Braybrook earns the Track Athlete of the Week honor, while University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Kathryn Carroll is the Field Athlete of the Week.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week: Helen Braybrook, CSU Pueblo (Sr., Frieston, United Kingdom)
Braybrook claims her second consecutive RMAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week award following a signature performance at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The senior broke the NCAA Division II record in the 600-meter run, crossing the finish line with a mark of 1:30.40- breaking the previous record that had stood for nine years. Braybrook followed this up on Saturday with an impressive performance in the 800-meter, recording the fourth-fastest time in NCAA DII history and an NCAA provisional time of 2:05.44. With her combination of performances, Braybrook earned the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII National Athlete of the Week honor.

Women’s Field Athlete of the Week: Kathryn Carroll, UCCS (Jr., Longmont, Colorado)
Carroll competed in the Colorado Running Company UCCS Invite on Saturday, posting an NCAA DII provisional qualifying mark. In a meet containing several DI athletes, the junior placed second at the event, besting all other DII athletes in the triple jump with a mark of 12m. Her mark sits atop the RMAC this season and is tied for 12th in all of DII. Carroll also vaulted into the top five in UCCS women’s indoor program history for the women’s triple jump as she now ranks third all-time in the event.
