COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University’s Leo Lavalle is the Week 5 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.
Last year’s RMAC Freshman of the Year matched his season and personal best in the opening round of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invite in Amarillo, Texas, shooting a 65 (-6) and without posting a single bogey. Lavalle followed this by firing an even-par round of 71, before posting a 68 (-3) in the final round. Over the course of the tournament, he made 13 birdies and recorded a third-round eagle.
The sophomore from Querétaro, Mexico, was the top NCAA golfer and took second overall in a field of 89. His final 54-hole score was 204 (-9) and led the Mavericks to a third-place team finish.
