COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – As Fall championship season inches closer, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams continue to draw attention in their respective sports’ national ranking. This week, the RMAC has 23 teams appearing in the updated national rankings, excluding men’s and women’s golf, which did not release an updated poll, continuing to showcase the league’s depth and strength across all fall sports.
Cross country continues to lead the RMAC with eight women’s teams and six men’s teams ranked. Women’s Soccer had three teams ranked and Men’s Soccer, Football, and Volleyball each had two teams in their respective national rankings. With some movement occurring in the polls, exciting and action-packed battles for the RMAC championship crown are on the horizon as we inch toward the championship season.
WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
RMAC Women’s Cross Country has eight teams in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll, the most of any Division II conference. The 2025 RMAC Cross Country Championship will be held on October 25 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will feature some of the best teams in the nation racing to be RMAC Champions.
Colorado School of Mines surged from No. 4 to the No. 1 spot this week after a team win in the Lucian Rosa Invitational, the same course that will host the NCAA Division II National Championship. Adams State University was No. 4 this week, Western Colorado University was No. 7, and University Colorado Colorado Springs was No. 8 to round out the Top 10. Fort Lewis College (No. 11), Colorado State University Pueblo (No. 17), Colorado Mesa University (No. 25), and Colorado Christian University (No. 27) are the remaining RMAC teams ranked. Metropolitan State University Denver received votes in the poll.
CSU Pueblo (No. 17) and MSU Denver (RV) will compete on Friday, October 3, in Pueblo, Colorado in the South Central Regional Preview.
MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
There are six RMAC Men’s Cross Country teams ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II Cross Country National Coaches’ Poll, the most of any Division II conference in the men’s rankings. The 2025 RMAC Cross Country Championship also is a month away on October 25 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and looks to be a fast and exciting race featuring some of the nation’s best runners.
The USTFCCCA Top 10 features Colorado School of Mines at No. 2, Adams State at No. 3, Colorado Christian at No. 6, and Western Colorado at No. 8. UCCS rose to No. 12 and Fort Lewis is No. 19. None of the nationally ranked RMAC Men’s Cross Country teams will compete this weekend.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
The fourth edition of the women’s soccer national rankings from United Soccer Coaches features four RMAC squads, three ranked and one receiving votes. The RMAC Women’s Soccer Championship will take place November 7-15 at the campus sites of the highest seeds.
In this week’s poll, Colorado School of Mines is No. 9, UCCS is No. 12, and Colorado Mesa is No. 22. Regis University received votes in the poll. Conference play continues this weekend with Colorado School of Mines, UCCS, and Colorado Mesa playing away matches on Friday, October 3. Colorado School of Mines travels to Spearfish, South Dakota to face Black Hills State University. UCCS travels to Colorado Christian, and Colorado Mesa faces Fort Lewis in Durango, Colorado.
MEN’S SOCCER
Two RMAC Men’s Soccer teams appeared in this week’s national coaches' poll from United Soccer Coaches. The RMAC Men’s Soccer Championship will begin on November 9 with the championship game set to take place on November 16.
CSU Pueblo moved up a spot to be ranked No. 7 and Fort Lewis was ranked No. 15 this week. The Thunderwolves and Skyhawks begin conference play this weekend, both having a homestand. Fort Lewis hosts Colorado Christian on Friday, October 3, and MSU Denver on Sunday, October 5. CSU Pueblo hosts Colorado Mesa on Sunday, October 5.
VOLLEYBALL
Two RMAC Volleyball teams were featured in this week’s American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA)/TARAFLEX Division II National Coaches’ Poll. The RMAC Volleyball Championship will begin on November 18 and run through the 22, with the highest seeds hosting the first round of matches.
MSU Denver is ranked No. 8 this week and Colorado Mesa is No. 25. UCCS also received votes in the poll. The Roadrunners travel to Colorado School of Mines on Friday, October 3 and Colorado Christian on Saturday, October 4. Colorado Mesa hosts Westminster University on Friday, October 3. UCCS hosts Regis on Saturday, October 4.
FOOTBALL
Two RMAC Football teams were ranked in this week’s American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) Division II National Coaches’ Poll, and D2Football.com Top 25 Poll. The battle for the championship crown continues this weekend with Western Colorado, CSU Pueblo, and Chadron State College all undefeated in league play.
In the AFCA Coaches’ Poll, Western Colorado (No. 7) and CSU Pueblo (No. 12) maintained their positions. Colorado School of Minesreceived votes in the poll. The D2Football.com Top 25 Poll was similar, with CSU Pueblo at No. 12, but Western Colorado was ranked No. 5.
Conference play continues this weekend with Western Colorado traveling to face Fort Lewis, CSU Pueblo hosting New Mexico Highlands University, and Colorado School of Mines facing Colorado Mesa at home.
