COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship is this Saturday, October 25, with some of the nation's best runners competing to be crowned the RMAC Cross Country Champion. As fall sports start to reach the end of regular season, and winter sports are just getting started, RMAC institutions continue to draw attention on the national stage as this week 20 teams and 14 individuals were featured in their respective sports’ national rankings. RMAC member institutions continue to display the league’s all-around strength and excellence across fall and winter sports.
With no updated men's and women’s cross country national rankings released this week, Women’s Swim & Dive leads the RMAC with four teams nationally ranked, and Men’s Swim & Dive and Women’s Soccer follow with three teams in their respective rankings. Men’s Golf, Football, Women’s Soccer, and Women’s Wrestling each have two teams ranked, and Volleyball and Women’s Golf each have one. Individually, 11 RMAC women’s wrestlers, two women’s golfers, and one men’s golfer were featured in the respective individual rankings for each sport.
MEN’S SOCCER
Two RMAC Men’s Soccer teams were ranked in this week’s national coaches' poll from United Soccer Coaches, and an additional two teams received votes in the poll. The RMAC Men’s Soccer Championship will begin November 9 with the championship game set to take place on November 16. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Metropolitan State University Denver, and Colorado Mesa University currently sit at the top of the conference leader board with two weeks left in the regular season.
Colorado State University Pueblo enters this week of conference play ranked No.11, while Fort Lewis College is No. 19. UCCS and MSU Denver received votes in the poll.
The battle for the No. 1 seed in the RMAC Men’s Soccer Tournament is heating up and on Sunday, October 26, CSU Pueblo hosts Colorado Christian University, Fort Lewis hosts Colorado School of Mines, and UCCS and MSU Denver face off in Colorado Springs.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
The seventh edition of the women’s soccer national rankings from United Soccer Coaches features three RMAC squads. The RMAC Women’s Soccer Championship will take place November 7-15 at the campus sites of the highest seeds. Colorado Mesa is currently the RMAC leader with 3.00 points per match.
Colorado School of Mines earned a spot in the top 10 this week with a No. 7 ranking. UCCS is No. 14, and Colorado Mesa is No. 20.
The pursuit to clinch an RMAC Women’s Soccer Tournament berth continues this weekend with Colorado School of Mines and Colorado Mesa facing off in a nationally ranked conference match on Friday, October 24. On Sunday, October 26, UCCS hosts Adams State University, Colorado Mesa faces CSU Pueblo at home, and Colorado School of Mines plays Westminster University.
FOOTBALL
Two RMAC Football teams were ranked in this week’s American Football Coaches Association’s (AFCA) Division II National Coaches’ Poll, and the D2Football.com Top 25 Poll. The RMAC title race remains wide open, as CSU Pueblo, Chadron State College, and Western Colorado University remain undefeated in league play.
In the AFCA Coaches’ Poll, Western Colorado University was No. 6, Colorado State University Pueblo was No.7, and Chadron State College received votes in the poll. Neither team moved in the D2Football.com Top 25, Western Colorado remained No. 5 and CSU Pueblo stayed at No. 9.
The race to be crowned RMAC Champions continues this weekend with Western Colorado hosting Colorado School of Mines on October 25. On Saturday, November 1, Western Colorado hosts CSU Pueblo in a ranked RMAC match up featuring two top 10 teams, and Chadron State will travel to South Dakota Mines to take on the Hardrockers.
VOLLEYBALL
Two RMAC Volleyball teams were featured in this week’s edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA)/TARAFLEX Division II National Coaches’ Poll. The RMAC Volleyball Championship is November 18-22, with the highest seeds hosting the first round of matches. UCCS, MSU Denver, and CSU Pueblo currently sit at the top of the conference standings after 5 weeks of conference play.
MSU Denver remained in the No. 12 spot this week, while Colorado Mesa received votes in the poll.
On Friday, October 24, MSU Denver hosts Colorado Christian, and Colorado Mesa travels to Golden, Colorado to face the Orediggers. The Roadrunners host CSU Pueblo on Saturday, October 25, in a showdown between two of the top teams in the league.
MEN’S GOLF
Two teams and one individual appeared in Scoreboard’s second national collegiate golf rankings of the year for men’s golf. Still early in the season, RMAC Men’s Golf teams and individuals continue to draw attention and earn positions in the national rankings. The RMAC Golf Championship will start on April 19, 2026, in Boulder City, Nevada.
Colorado Mesa is No. 15, and CSU Pueblo is No. 16. CSU Pueblo’s Marius Dosiere is currently the No. 24 golfer in the nation.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Scoreboard published their second national collegiate golf rankings. One team and two individuals appeared in Scoreboard’s second rankings of the year for women’s golf. A lot of golf is left to be played before the RMAC Golf Championship on April 19, 2026, in Boulder City, Nevada.
CSU Pueblo was ranked No. 16 this week, and their own golfer, Yale Lee, was ranked no. 30. Westminster University’s Ashley Lam earned the No. 22 spot.
MEN’S SWIM & DIVE
Three RMAC Men’s Swim & Dive teams were ranked in the first coaches poll published by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA). The 2025-26 RMAC Swim & Dive Championship, hosted by Colorado Mesa, takes place February 10-14, 2026.
Colorado Mesa earned the No. 5 spot, Oklahoma Christian University was ranked No. 18, and Colorado School of Mines was No. 24.
The Mavericks and the Orediggers face off in Golden, Colorado on Saturday, October 25. Oklahoma Christian will host an intrasquad meet on November 1, before hosting the Eagle Invitational November 14-16.
WOMEN’S SWIM & DIVE
In the first Women’s Swim & Dive coaches’ poll from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association, four squads were featured representing the RMAC. The 2025-26 RMAC Swim & Dive Championship takes place February 10-14, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Colorado Mesa opens the season ranked as the No. 2 team in the nation. Colorado School of Mines is No. 18, Oklahoma Christian is No. 20, and Simon Fraser University is No. 25.
Colorado Mesa competes against Colorado State University and the University of Denver, Colorado School of Mines hosts Colorado College on Friday, October 24. Oklahoma Christian will host an intrasquad meet on November 1, before hosting the Eagle Invitational November 14-16. Simon Fraser will participate in the World Aquatics Simming World Cup-Canada from October 23-25.
WOMEN’S WRESTLING
The first edition of the National Wrestling Coaches' Association’s Women’s Wrestling Top 25 featured two RMAC Women’s Wrestling teams, and 11 nationally ranked individuals in the top 10 individuals coaches' poll. The season is still fresh, and many matches are to be held before the 2025-26 RMAC Women's Wrestling Championship held at the Air Force Academy on January 31, 2026.
The two ranked teams are No. 6 Colorado Mesa and No. 17 Chadron State. Individually, in the 103-pound weight class, Colorado Mesa’s Mia Zuniga is the No. 4-ranked wrestler. Colorado Mesa’s Isabella Morales (No. 5) and Rylee Balcazar (No. 9) are the two wrestlers ranked in the 110-pound division. In the 117-pound division, Adams State’s Flavia Nagatani (No. 9) and Colorado Mesa’s Majorie “Jojo” McDaniel (No. 10) appear in the rankings. Mavericks’ wrestler Lorianna Piestewa is the No. 2 wrestler in the nation in the 124-pound division. In the 131-pound weight class, Chadron State’s Piper Cadden is ranked No. 6. Gretchen Donnally from Colorado Mesa is ranked No. 7 in the 145-pound weight class. Texas Woman’s University's Poorna Babu is the No. 10 wrestler in the 160-pound division. Colorado Mesa’s Jayleen Sekona (No. 4), and Chadron State’s Esther Peters (No. 5) are the RMAC wrestlers ranked in the 207-pound division.
Colorado Mesa and Chadron State open their seasons this weekend by hosting their own intrasquad meets on October 24.
