COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s head football coaches named Western Colorado University redshirt senior quarterback Drew Nash and Chadron State College redshirt senior outside linebacker Logan O’Brien the league’s Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, leading the 2025 All-RMAC Football Teams and Awards announced Friday.

Chadron State, which finished second in the RMAC standings, also saw redshirt senior punter Brodie Eisenbraun named the RMAC Special Teams Player of the Year, with head coach Jay Long claiming the RMAC Coach of the Year award. New Mexico Highlands University swept the league’s freshman honors with standout running back Jeffery Jones and outside linebacker Dontaivious Nelson earning the first-year offensive and defensive accolades, respectively.

The 2025 All-RMAC Football Teams recognized 62 of the league’s best football players on its first and second teams. In addition, 54 student-athletes are on the honorable mention list. The All-RMAC Football Teams are nominated by their head coaches and selected by the league’s 10 head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.

Nash, a Torrance, California product, led the RMAC in total offense during league play, averaging 319.6 yards per game, and was responsible for 32 touchdowns in nine RMAC games. In all games, Nash ranked seventh among Division II players in total offense (310.4 yards per game) and was second nationally in points responsible per game (24.0 ppg). He had three games where he was responsible for five touchdowns or more – West Texas A&M (5), Adams State (6), Black Hills State (6), and Colorado Mesa (6) – and he was responsible for all the Mountaineers’ non-kicking points against Adams State and Colorado Mesa.

O’Brien, from Kearney, Nebraska, led the RMAC with 12.5 tackles for loss in league play and was second in sacks (5.0) and sixth in total tackles per game (7.6 per game). In all games, he was second in the league in tackles for loss per game (1.27), fourth in sacks per game (0.45), and sixth in total tackles per game (7.4). O’Brien had a stretch of seven consecutive games with a tackle for loss, which included 4.0 against Adams State and 3.5 against Black Hills State. He also had two-sack performances against Colorado School of Mines and Adams State during the streak.

Eisenbraun, from Sturgis, South Dakota, finished second in league play with a 45.4 yard per punt mark. However, 12 of his 37 punts went for 50-plus yards and 11 were downed inside the 20-yard line. In all outings, he averaged 44.2 yards per punt with 12 of his 47 punts going for at least 50 yards and 17 downed inside the 20-yard line. Eisenbraun twice booted a 71-yard punt during the season, once against Adams State and then again versus Western Colorado. Opposing teams attempted a return on 20 of his punts, but averaged just 6.3 yards per return.

Jones, who hails from St. Petersburg, Florida, broke onto the scene with a 223-yard performance against Eastern New Mexico before setting the NCAA Division II freshman record with a 385-yard performance against Western New Mexico. He finished the regular season ranked second among all Division II runners with 172.3 rushing yards per game. Jones led all Division II backs with 10.77 yards per carry, was second with 1,723 total rushing yards, and 13th with 15 rushing touchdowns.  He finished his freshman season with the seventh-most rushing yards in a single season in RMAC history.

Nelson, another St. Petersburg, Florida product, recorded 40 tackles (3.6 pg), 6.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles in his first season. He enjoyed a dominating outing against Fort Lewis in the season’s next-to-last weekend, with six tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He followed that with another six-tackle effort against Black Hills State and also had eight tackles against Colorado Mesa earlier in the season.

Long and the Eagles took the RMAC Championship race to the season’s final weekend before falling in double overtime to eventual champion Colorado State University Pueblo. After a narrow 17-3 loss at Division I Northern Colorado and a road loss at in-state rival Nebraska-Kearney, Chadron State put together an eight-game win streak that culminated with a victory against nationally-ranked Western Colorado. That win streak pushed the Eagles to their first appearance in the AFCA Division II Coaches poll since 2012 and ultimately to their first Division II Playoff appearance since that season.

The 2025 All-RMAC Football Teams are highlighted by four first-team and 10 second-team honorees returning from the 2024 All-RMAC Football Teams. The 2024 Offensive, Defensive, and Defensive Freshman of the Year all returned to earn First Team All-RMAC honors in 2025. In addition, led by Offensive Freshman of the Year Jeffrey Jones, the First Team All-RMAC features three freshmen, with another four earning Second Team All-RMAC accolades.
