The Mountain Lions advance to the second round and will face Super Region 4's No. 2 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills in a 4 p.m. (MT), Sunday match in Carson.

No. 10 UCCS tied No. 7 Cal State Los Angeles, 3-3 (UCCS advances on PKs, 4-2)
Jack Cook scored in the 35th minute then provided the clinching penalty kick as UCCS advanced 4-2 on penalty kicks after batling to a 3-3 tie against Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday at Toro Stadium. Cal State Los Angeles built a 2-0 lead in the opening 19 minutes as Emil Kischka penalty kick conversion in the 9th minute and Alex Mendez's goal in the 19th minute. UCCS rallied back with three goals in a six-minute span before the end of the half. Diego Macias got the Mountain Lions on the board in the 30th minute followed by Cook's game-tying goal in the 35th minute. UCCS took the lead in the 39th minute when it coverted a corner kick, and held its 3-2 lead the rest of the half. Cal State LA applied the pressure late in the second half and was rewarded in the 90th minute with a penalty kick opportunity which Kischka converted for his second goal to tie the game, 3-3, with less than 40 seconds remaining in regulation. UCCS forced Cal State LA to make two saves in the first extra period, but neither team put a shot on goal in the second overtime, sending the match to penalty kicks to decide which team would advance.

The shootout started poorly for the Mountain Lions with Miles Seminario missing the target on his attempt while CSLA's Marcos Lipertis converted his chance. In the second round, Nick Walker leveled things with a goal and CSLA's Ignacio Moreno saw his shot hit both posts and bound out, leveling the score. UCCS would close the shootout with three consecutive conversions by Luke Noameshie, Gustavo Diaz Aliva, and Jack Cook. Cal State Los Angeles suffered a second straight miss in round three and Alex Mendez extended the shootout to the fifth round with a goal, but Cook's conversion ended the shootout.
