CARSON, Calif. – Rory Scott scored two goals in a six minute span to lift No. 10 seed University of Colorado Colorado Springs past No. 2 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-1, in the second round of the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship, Sunday at Toro Stadium.
The Mountain Lions advance to the tournament's third round and return to the West Coast to face No. 3 seed Point Loma in a Saturday, Nov. 29 contest in San Diego.
No. 10 UCCS def. No. 2 Cal State Dominguez Hills, 3-1
Defenseman Rory Scott scored in the 63rd and 68th minutes to cap a scoring onslaught by UCCS that pushed it to a 3-1 win against Cal State Dominguez Hills at Toro Stadium. The host Toros grabbed the lead with a goal on their lone shot on net in the 14th minute and held that advantage into the second half. The Mountain Lions leveled the game on Nick Walker's goal in the 61st minute, which broke the seal. Scott's goals broke the tie and added an insurance goal. UCCS goalkeeper Hugo Sjoberg made five saves on six shots on goal, including four stops in the second half.
