GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs tied Colorado School of Mines, 1-1, but advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship with a 3-1 victory in penalty kicks on Sunday at Stermole Soccer Stadium.
UCCS advances to face regional No. 1 seed Dallas Baptist in a Sunday, Nov. 30 match in Dallas, Texas, with a kickoff time to be determined as of Sunday night.

For a second straight meeting, UCCS and Colorado School School of Mines needed penalty kicks to decide a result but this time the Mountain Lions advanced to the third round with a 3-1 result in the deciding action. After a quiet first half that saw neither goalkeeper tested with a shot on goal, the second saw five combined shots on goal. UCCS broke the scoreless tie when Abby Stassi knocked home a goal off a rebound in the 75th minute. Colorado Shool of Mines responded in the 79th minute when Natalie Rouse headed home a corner kick, leveling the score. The game returned to its first half form in the overtime periods with neither team placing a shot on goal, sending the match to penalty kicks. UCCS' Nylah Mirshafiei made two saves, allowed one PK, and the Orediggers missed on another attempt. Meanwhile, the Mountain Lions converted on three of their four attempts, with Taylynn Levi, Mikaela Carson, and Elise Broberg finding the back of the net.
