DENVER, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver women's volleyball team swept No. 2 seed University of Colorado Colorado Springs in three sets (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) to win the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Championship, Saturday night, at the Auraria Event Center.

With the win, MSU Denver claims the RMAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship, with that tournament's field announced at 5:30 p.m. at NCAA.com.

UCCS (26-3) took the challenge to MSU Denver straightaway in the opening set, scoring seven of the first 10 points to force a timeout. The timeout did its job as the Roadrunners scored 11 of the set's next 13 points to build a 14-9 advantage. UCCS would close within a point several times the rest of the set, but could get no closer. MSU Denver won the set with a closing 7-1 run for a 25-18 victory.

Two massive runs dominated the second set's action. After the teams traded three points runs at the onset, MSU Denver used a 9-3 to open up a 12-6 lead, which it maintained up to 15-9. UCCS did not fade away and used a 11-4 run to take a 20-19 lead. However, MSU Denver got into a favorable rotation and closed the set with a 6-3 run to win 25-23.

The third set was nip-and-tuck until late with seven ties and two lead changes in the first 38 points until the teams were tied at 19-19. But a UCCS service error put MSU Denver's Emerson Dillon at the service line and she did not relinquish serve the rest of the way, with the Roadrunners scoring the match's final five points to seure the championship.

MSU Denver' Anika Helf led the way with 10 kills in an uneven night on attack which saw her post a .028 attack percentage. Alyssa Boyte had four kills with no errors and provided four blocks. Brooke Gennerman provided nine kills and Karyna Werley had eight kills.

UCCS was held to a .103 team attack percentage. Kinely Gomez led the offensive effort with eight kills and Sydnee Walker had six kills.
