Mavericks’ Jonsson & Juarros Pick Up RMAC’s Weekly Swimming & Diving Honors

Jonsson won 200-yard breaststroke at Utah, Juarros' 1-meter score surpasses NCAA qualifying standard

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University senior Aron Jonsson and junior Jax Juarros are the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, following competitions of Oct. 27-Nov. 2.

Swimmer

Aron Jonsson, Colorado Mesa (Senior, Kópavogur, Iceland)
Jonsson won the 200-yard breaststroke event in Colorado Mesa’s dual at Utah, posting an altitude-adjusted time of 2:01.54 which is the best mark in the RMAC this season by nearly two seconds. He also finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with an altitude-adjusted time of 56.34, which would be the sixth-best mark in the RMAC, although he already holds the second-best mark in the league at 55.45 seconds in the event.

Diver

Jax Juarros, Colorado Mesa (Junior, Gilbert, Arizona)
Juarros scored 290.18 points in the one-meter diving event in Colorado Mesa’s dual at Utah, securing an NCAA qualifying mark in the event. That six-dive score led all CMU divers and was second in the event. He also notched a score of 260.33 in a six-dive effort in the 3-meter diving event. .
