COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa junior Mia Zuniga is the week 6 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Mia Zuniga, Colorado Mesa (Junior, 103 pounds, Granger, Wash.)
Zuniga went 4-0 at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas last week, scoring 17 team points while only conceding one. The Granger, Washington native earned victories by fall, technical fall, decision, and forfeit. Her performance is highlighted by an 8-2 decision over Rayana Sahagun of Grand Valley State University, who was at the time ranked No. 1 in the 103-pound weight class. At the time of the event, Zuniga was ranked No. 8 but has since moved to the No. 3 position in the latest national rankings and currently leads the Mavericks with 18 wins.
