COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 2 Softball Athletes of the Week awards, with Chadron State Pitcher Tori Haug and UC Colorado Springs Infielder Laynee Case claiming the conference’s latest awards.
Pitcher of the Week: Tori Haug, Chadron State (Sr., Commerce City, Colorado)
Haug put together a strong showing this past weekend, going 2-0 at the Lubbock Sports College Invitational in Lubbock, Texas. In a dominant performance versus Adams State, Haug threw a complete game in the winning effort, allowing only two runs and throwing seven strikeouts. Haug then went on to throw two perfect innings of relief versus the University of Texas – Permian Basin, adding two strikeouts in that appearance.
Position Player of the Week: Laynee Case, UC Colorado Springs (Soph., Loveland, Colorado)
Case put together a dominant performance this weekend at the plate at the West Texas A&M Invitational. Over the course of the weekend, Case went 7 for 14 from the plate (.500 average) with two home runs, a double, six runs batted in and earned 14 total bases. The Sophomore infielder had a monster performance on Friday afternoon versus Texas A&M Kingsville, going three for five from the plate with two home runs that came in clutch moments of the game.
