Black Hills State Peskey & Pauwels take home RMAC Softball Weekly Awards

Peskey goes 4-0, Pauwels drives in 10 RBI as Black Hills State sweeps weekly softball awards

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 3 Softball Athletes of the Week awards, with Black Hills State University pitcher Laci Peske and first baseman Ashlynn Pauwels sweeping the conference’s latest awards.

Pitcher of the Week: Laci Peskey, Black Hills State (Soph, Waller, Texas)
Peskey pitched in all four games for Black Hills State this weekend, helping lead them to a 4-0 series sweep of Adams State. It is the first time Black Hills State posted a winning series on RMAC Opening Weekend in program history. Peskey was credited with all four wins in the weekend series, finishing with 20.1 innings, nine earned runs, 23 strikeouts, and only one walk allowed. In her third outing of the series, Peskey pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only five hits and posting 11 strikeouts, giving Peskey her third double-digit strikeout game of the season.

Player of the Week: Ashlynn Pauwels, Black Hills State (Sr., Tallahassee, Florida)
Pauwels helped lead Black Hills State as their offensive leader in this weekend’s four-game sweep of Adams State. Over the course of the series, Pauwels notched multiple hits in each game, leaving the weekend series with a total of eight hits, five runs scored, and a team-high 10 runs batted in. Of the eight hits that Pauwels notched in the series, five were extra-base hits with two home runs, two doubles, and one triple. Pauwels hit home runs in back-to-back games, the second time she has done so in her career.
