COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 14 RMAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week awards on Monday. Regis guard Jalen Brown claims the offensive award, while Fort Lewis forward Cassius Carmichael earns the defensive honor for the second time this season.
Offensive Player of the Week: Jalen Brown, Regis (So., Guard, Salinas, California)
Brown was an offensive force for the Rangers over the weekend, averaging 23 points per game. Brown scored a career-high 26 points in Regis’ Thursday outing against Colorado School of Mines. On the way to his career-high, the guard shot 63% from the field, 75% from three, and tallied an assist. Brown followed that with a 20-point outing against Metropolitan State University of Denver on Saturday. In his 35 minutes of action, Brown went 7-of-15 from the field (47%), with two of those field goals being three-pointers. In total, the Salinas, California product recorded 46 points in 61 minutes of playing action on 55/57/67 percent shooting splits.

Defensive Player of the Week: Cassius Carmichael, Fort Lewis (Jr., Forward, Glendale, Arizona)
Carmichael was the driving force behind Fort Lewis’ defense last week, leading them to a 1-1 weekend. In the Skyhawk’s opening matchup against Colorado State University Pueblo, Carmichael notched 30 minutes of play, recording six rebounds, a game-high three steals, and a block along the way. The Glendale, Arizona native then led the Skyhawks to a 77-68 win against Colorado Christian, posting 12 points, three steals, and another block.

The final week of the 2024-25 regular season is here COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men’s basketball season enters the final week of the 2024-25 regular season, and teams continue to fight for their postseason lives.
Colorado School of Mines claimed the 2024-25 RMAC men’s basketball regular season title outright last week. This week, the Orediggers close out the regular season with a road trip to Colorado Springs and Pueblo to face off against the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and Colorado State University Pueblo. Joining the Orediggers on the road will be Westminster, Fort Lewis, Adams State, Colorado Mesa, Metropolitan State University of Denver, New Mexico Highlands, and Regis

2025 RMAC Men’s Basketball Championship Rounding Into Shape
Seven teams have punched their ticket to the 2024-25 RMAC Men’s Basketball Championship, with Colorado School of Mines claiming the No. 1 seed after clinching the regular season title outright last week.
The Orediggers are the seventh-ranked team in the nation, according to the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches national poll. With their top-seed finish in the conference, the Orediggers earn the right to host a quarterfinal game and, with a win, the semifinals and championship games.
Regis, MSU Denver, Black Hills State, Colorado Mesa, Fort Lewis, and UCCS have all secured their spot in the 2024-25 RMAC Championship. The top four seeds will host quarterfinal games next Tuesday.
Chadron State, Colorado Christian, Adams State, and Westminster are all fighting for the last spot in the tournament. Chadron State needs one win or losses by the other three teams to punch their ticket into the tournament. This week, Adams State will travel to Chadron State in a pivotal Saturday matchup
Colorado School of Mines Chosen as 2024 RMAC Men’s Basketball Preseason Favorite
- Colorado School of Mines was the preseason favorite, following the results of the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Orediggers top the preseason poll with 11 first-place votes and 191 total points. The poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches, who were not permitted to vote for their teams.
Keep an Eye On
- Biko Johnson (Fort Lewis) continues to lead the league in scoring, averaging 17 points per game for the Skyhawks. Johnson is shooting 41% from the field, 37% from three, and 73% from the free throw line this season. His offensive output has led the Skyhawks to an 11-7 RMAC record.
- Tristan Hurdle (Black Hills State) is the top three-point shooter in the conference, shooting 49% on the season. His percentage is the best in DII this season.
- William Becker (UCCS) is the league leader in field goal percentage, shooting 68% on the season. The two-time RMAC Defensive Player of the Week continues to dominate the boards, as he has 14 double-doubles this season. His double-double total is tied for the seventh most in DII. He also leads the conference in rebounds (240/9.2) and ranks second in blocks (44/1.7).
- Stewart Erhart (Fort Lewis) paces the league in steals per game with 66 on the season (2.4 per game). Teammates Biko Johnson, Tru Allen, and Cassius Carmichael join Erhart as the top four leaders in steals per game. As a team, the Skyhawks lead all programs in DI and DII in steals per game (12.7) and rank sixth in DII in turnovers forced (19.67) and turnover margin (+7.2).
- KJ Garrett (MSU Denver) leads the league in assists per game, averaging 4.4 on the season.
