COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University junior forward Olivia Reed Thyne repeats as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Player of the Year, leading a 10-member First Team Academic All-RMAC Team as selected by the league’s athletic communication directors.
The Windsor, Colorado native also repeated as the 2024-25 RMAC Player of the Year as selected by the league’s head coaches. She received both awards before Friday's RMAC Women’s Basketball Championships semifinal round. She entered the postseason with a 3.93 grade-point average as a fitness and health promotion major at Colorado Mesa.
Reed Thyne enters NCAA postseason play averaging 21.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game for the Mavericks. She ranked sixth among Division II athletes in scoring and 12th in rebounding. Reed Thyne led the RMAC in field-goal percentage (267-of-462, .578) and was fourth in free-throw percentage (117-of-145, .807). She also recorded her 18th double-double of the season, the fifth most in Division II, in the RMAC quarterfinals. She made an early statement with a 45-point outing against Pittsburg State in December, one of four 40-plus point outings in the RMAC this season. Reed Thyne had seven 30-point games this season, five of those in RMAC play.
Reed Thyne leads a 10-member First Team Academic All-RMAC group with seven of the league’s women’s basketball-sponsoring institutions represented. Four selections are repeat honorees, including Reed Thyne: Western Colorado senior center Rachel Cockman, Colorado Mesa senior guard Kylie Kravig, and University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior forward Maison White.
In addition, the RMAC recognized 70 student-athletes, including the 10 Academic All-RMAC honorees, on its 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Academic Honor Roll.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
Each institution’s athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league’s athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
