COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver forward Caleb McGill is the 2024-25 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Academic Player of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday. The 2024-25 RMAC Men’s Basketball First Team Academic All-RMAC Team and Academic Honor Roll selections are announced alongside McGill's honor.

McGill, an Aurora, Colorado native, was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-RMAC Honor Roll before jumping to Academic Player of the Year this season. On the court, McGill is a leader for the Roadrunners, averaging 14.4 points per game this season. The graduate student was an efficient scorer throughout the 2024-25 season, as he shot 56% from the field, 45% from three, and 77% from the free-throw line. When he wasn’t scoring, McGill cleaned the boards, averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. Defensively, the Roadrunner recorded 28 blocks and 21 steals across a 29-game season. Behind McGill, MSU Denver finished the season with a 19-10 (13-7 RMAC) record, earning the fourth seed in the conference tournament.

McGill leads a 10-member First Team Academic All-RMAC group with nine of the league’s 15 institutions represented. Three student-athletes are repeat honorees from the 2023-24 season, with Nathan Hasberry (New Mexico Highlands), Sam Howery (Colorado State University Pueblo), and Kade Juelfs (Western Colorado) earning back-to-back selections.
In addition, the RMAC recognized 62 student-athletes, including the 10 Academic All-RMAC honorees, on its 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Academic Honor Roll.

The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.

Each institution’s athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league’s athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
