COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University senior Andrew Scoggin is the 2024-25 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year, the league announced Thursday, along with the league’s other major award winners and All-RMAC roster.

Colorado Mesa junior Ryan Campbell is the league’s Diver of the Year, and Mavericks’ freshman Richard Schmiedefeld is the Freshman of the Year. Colorado School of Mines head coach Clarie McDaniel was selected by her peers as the league’s Coach of the Year.

The RMAC awards are selected and voted on by the league’s six men’s swimming and diving head coaches. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their players. The All-RMAC Teams are based on results at the RMAC Championships, with first and second-place finishers named First Team All-RMAC and third and fourth-place finishers earning Second Team All-RMAC recognition. Fifty-three individuals earned All-RMAC recognition for 144 total honors. Colorado Mesa led all teams with 15 individuals and 45 All-RMAC honors, Colorado School of Mines (12/32), Oklahoma Christian (10/29), Simon Fraser (11/32), and UT Permian Basin (5/6) also had student-athletes earn All-RMAC recognition.

Scoggin, a Greeley, Colorado native, won four events at the RMAC Championships and followed that by claiming All-American honors in six events at last weekend’s NCAA Division II Championships. The multi-event swimmer finished fifth in the 100-meter backstroke and eighth in the 200-meter backstroke in Indianapolis, earning First Team All-America honors in both events. Scoggin also was a part of the Mavericks 200 freestyle, 200 medley, and 400 medley relay teams that each finished in the Top 12 and earned Second Team All-America honors. In the RMAC Championship, he won the 100 backstroke event and was part of CMU’s conference championship 200 freestyle, 200 medley, and 400 medley relay teams.

Campbell, from Delmar, New York, was an RMAC Co-Diver of the Meet at the conference championship and then earned Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division II Championships. In the RMAC Championship, he won the 3-meter title and finished third in the 1-meter event. Campbell then finished 11th in the 3-meter event and 12th in the 1-meter event in Indianapolis.

Schmiedefeld, a Stuttgart, Germany product, won four events at the RMAC Championships and then claimed five All-American honors at the national championships. At the RMAC Championships, he won the 50 freestyle title and helped Colorado Mesa win the 200, 400, and 800 freestyle relays. Schmiedefeld also finished fourth in the 200 backstroke and seventh in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle at the conference meet. In Indianapolis, he was a member of the Maverick's eighth-place 800 freestyle unit, which earned first-team honors. He earned second-team honors in the 200 backstroke and as part of the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays.

McDaniel claims her fourth RMAC Men’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year honor after leading the Colorado School of Mines men’s team to a third-place finish at the RMAC Championships, winning five medals and scoring 1156.5 points. In Indianapolis, Vladislav Kazakin claimed First Team All-America honors in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle events, and the Orediggers finished 25th in the team results.
