Mavericks’ Brummett and Golden Eagles’ Yang Earn PBC/Rocky Mountain Division Weekly Men’s Lacrosse Honors

Brummett wins second award after back-to-back hat trick outings, Yang records season-best 12 saves

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa senior attacker JJ Brummett and Concordia University Irvine senior goalkeeper Daniel Yang claimed the sixth edition of the Peach Belt Conference-Rocky Mountain Division Men’s Lacrosse Athletes of the Week awards, announced on Monday.

Offensive Player of the Week
JJ Brummett, Colorado Mesa (Senior, Attacker, Glen Rock, Pennsylvania)
Brummett, who wins his second offensive award of the season, recorded back-to-back hat tricks last week during the Mavericks’ Florida road trip. He posted five goals on eight shots on goal in a 10-9 loss at Florida Tech. Brummett followed that with three goals and an assist on seven shots on goal in a win at Saint Leo. He enters the week as the RMAC leader in goals (21), assists (12), and total points (33).

Defensive Player of the Week
Daniel Yang, Concordia University Irvine (Senior, Goalkeeper, San Diego, California)
Yang recorded 12 saves in the Golden Eagles’ division victory against Westminster last week. He posted a .706 save percentage against Westminster, allowing five goals on 17 shots and recording a season-best in saves. Yang has won three consecutive contests, allowing just 16 goals during his win streak.
