COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced its Week 5 Softball Player of the Week awards on Tuesday. University of Colorado Colorado Springs freshman Tayler McCombs claims the Player of the Week award, while Black Hills State sophomore Laci Peskey earns her third Pitcher of the Week honor of the 2025 season.
Player of the Week: Tayler McCombs, UCCS (Freshman, Infielder, Gilbert, Arizona)
McCombs was outstanding last week for the Mountain Lions, leading her squad to a sweep over Chadron State. McCombs posted an impressive .643 batting average (9-for-14) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, 10 RBI, seven runs scored, and 19 total bases. In Saturday's doubleheader against the Eagles, McCombs went 2-for-4 in Game 1 to help UCCS grab an 8-7 comeback win. She then went 3-for-3 with a double, home run, and four RBI in a 10-0 run-rule victory. On Sunday, she added another solid outing, going 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in an 8-5 win. In the final game of the series, McCombs delivered a clutch 3-for-5 performance with a triple, home run, and five RBIs, including a game-tying RBI triple in the sixth inning and a single to score the winning run in an 11-10 victory.

Pitcher of the Week: Laci Peskey, Black Hills State (Sophomore, Pitcher, Waller, Texas)
Peskey helped lead Black Hills State University to their third consecutive conference series win, marking the first time in program history that BHSU has accomplished this feat. Peskey dominated in the circle, going 2-0 with two complete games and a save over the weekend. She pitched 19 innings across all four games, allowing just one earned run, while racking up 30 strikeouts and posting a remarkable 0.37 ERA. The sophomore also recorded double-digit strikeouts in both games she started and did not allow a run in her relief appearances. On Sunday, she earned her 10th win, breaking the BHSU single season record for wins.
