Delate and Demos break program records in the second full weekend of action

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado School of Mines senior hurdler Everett Delate and University of Colorado Colorado Springs junior thrower Kyle Demos were named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field weekly award winners, announced on Wednesday.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Everett Delate, Colorado School of Mines (Senior (RS), Hurdles, Centennial, Colorado)
Delate broke his own Orediggers record in the 110-meter hurdles, winning the Mines Midweek Meet on Thursday. His time of 13.81 seconds is the best mark in the RMAC – by more than half a second – this season and the No. 5 mark in all of Division II, while also earning him a provisional qualifying mark.
Honorable Mention: David Cardenas, Adams State; Aiden O’Leary, Black Hills State; Kyle Towne, Colorado Mesa; Reece Sharman-Newell, CSU Pueblo; Zachary Gaumont, Fort Lewis; Sebastian Jean, UCCS; Kyle Partin, Western Colorado.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Kyle Demos, UCCS (Junior, Throws, Colorado Springs, Colorado)
Demos set program records in the shot put and discus, winning both events at the Chuck Hearing Invitational last weekend. He posted a mark of 17.42m (57’ 2”) in the shot put, which is the second-best mark in the RMAC this season and the 11th-best in Division II. Demos added a throw of 52.20m (171’ 3”) in the discus, the best mark in the RMAC this season and the 15th best in Division II. Both marks are NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks.
 
Honorable Mention: Chase Maher, Black Hills State; Antone Higgs, Colorado Mesa; Holden Murphy, Colorado School of Mines; Ian Thomas, CSU Pueblo; Robert Letsche, Western Colorado.
