Cougars Open Narrow Lead After RMAC Men’s Golf Championship Opening Round

Colorado Christian’s Sangha Park’s opening-round 67 leads the individual leaderboard by one stroke

BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Led by Sangha Park’s opening-round 67, defending Colorado Christian University opened the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship with a 276 team total to open the team race with a one-stroke lead after Sunday’s action at Boulder Creek Gofl Club.

Park had one of the first round’s eight eagles, posting a three on the par-five fourth hole, while also recording six birdies to post a tournament-leading five-under par 67. He is being chased by four players at four-under par 68: Westminster’s Xavier de la Rosa, Colorado Christian’s Sungyeop Cho, Fort Lewis’ Ronald Kildall III, and Colorado Mesa’s Baptiste Laborde. Seventeen individuals broke par in the opening round.

Colorado Christian leads Colorado School of Mines by one shot in the team race. The Cougars finished with four players at par or better, including three in the Top 6. The Orediggers’ 277 included four players under par and in the Top 10. Fort Lewis impressed early before settling in to finish third with a 280, the Skyhawks also had four individuals under par, with each in the Top 15.

Round 2 of the championship begins at 9:30 a.m, Monday with Colorado Christian, Colorado Mesa, and Colorado State University Pueblo teeing off in the opening groups. The ThunderWolves enter the second day in fourth place with a 284, while the Mavericks are in fifth place with a 286.
