DENVER, Colo. – The 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Softball Championship got underway Wednesday morning at All-Star Park, featuring five teams in a full slate of opening-day action. Two of the tournament’s top three seeds—Colorado Christian University and Metropolitan State University of Denver—secured spots in the next round with strong performances.
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs got today’s action started with a victory over Colorado State University Pueblo. Following their first-round bye, Colorado defeated UCCS in a tightly contested quarterfinal matchup. MSU Denver advanced after a convincing win against Black Hills State. With the opening day in the books, Colorado Christian moves on to the semifinal round, where they will face the winner of Colorado Mesa and MSU Denver. UCCS will look to stay alive in the tournament when they take on Black Hills State in Thursday’s elimination matchup.
No. 5 UCCS def. No. 4 CSU Pueblo, 9-3
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs opened the 2025 RMAC Softball Tournament with an impressive 9-3 victory over Colorado State University Pueblo. Fueled by explosive offense and a dominant performance in the circle by Kailey Bond, the Mountain Lions controlled the game from start to finish. UCCS struck early, plating two runs in the second inning before adding three more in the fourth. They sealed the win with a four-run surge in the seventh. Bond was stellar on the mound, delivering a complete game and holding the ThunderWolves scoreless through six innings. CSU Pueblo managed a late rally in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs on hits from Caitlyn Cole, Darleen Falcon, and Raelynn Rogers
No. 3 MSU Denver def. No. 6 Black Hills State, 8-2
Metropolitan State University of Denver surged past Black Hills State University with a commanding 8-2 win in the opening round of the 2025 RMAC Softball Tournament. The Roadrunners showcased steady offensive production, scoring in four straight innings to build an insurmountable lead. Jaiden Geist led the charge at the plate, delivering a standout performance with four RBIs and a pair of home runs to power MSU Denver’s offense. After allowing two early runs in the first inning, the Roadrunners’ defense and pitching rounded into shape, holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless for the remainder of the game. With the win, MSU Denver advances to face No. 2 seed Colorado Mesa tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM MT.
No. 1 Colorado Christian def. No. 5 UCCS, 5-3
Colorado Christian University defeated the UCCS Mountain Lions in a tight game in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 RMAC Softball Championship. The game began with three scoreless innings before UCCS notched two runs to get on the board first. The Cougars responded in the fifth with three runs, followed by two more in the sixth. Senior Camryn Quilling led all CCU players with three hits and one RBI, while RMAC Player of the Year, Elyse McMullin, recorded two hits, two runs, and one RBI. With their win today, CCU advances to the semifinal round and awaits the winner of Colorado Mesa and MSU Denver.
