COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University senior Cassidy Phelan is the 2024-25 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Academic Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Thursday. The 2024-25 First Team Academic All-RMAC Women’s Golf Team and Honor Roll selections were announced with Phelan’s award.
Phelan, a native of Henderson, Nevada, earns her first Academic Athlete of the Year award with a 4.0 grade-point average in Business Administration. Previously, Phelan was named First Team Academic All-RMAC in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons and received the Summit Award nod in 2023-24.
On the course, Phelan was a standout performer, collecting a Second Team All-RMAC roster spot this season. On the year, Phelan was one of the best golfers on her Colorado Mesa squad, finishing the season with a Top 400 national rank and a Top 150 regional rank. The senior competed in 10 tournaments for the Mavericks, recording two top-ten finishes. Her best outing of the season was at the Maverick Challenge on April 12-13, where she finished second in a field of 24. She capped her season with a 23rd-place finish at the 2025 RMAC Women’s Golf Championship, firmly putting her amongst the league’s best golfers.
Phelan leads an eight-member First Team Academic All-RMAC roster, with five of the league’s ten women’s golf sponsoring institutions represented. Colorado State University Pueblo’s Freya Constable joins Phelan as the only repeat honoree.
In addition, the RMAC recognized 30 student-athletes, including the ten Academic All-RMAC honorees, on its 2024-25 Women’s Golf Academic Honor Roll.
The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport who academically maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, have completed two consecutive semesters at their current institution, and have used a season of competition.
Each institution’s athletic communications directors nominate student-athletes who academically maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, along with the other criteria for the Academic Honor Roll, for recognition on the First Team Academic All-RMAC in each sport. The league’s athletic communications directors for that sport vote to compose the First Team Academic All-RMAC and select the Academic Player of the Year. They are not permitted to vote for their own student-athletes.
