UCCS Holds Edge as Preseason Favorite in RMAC Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll

Four returning First Team All-RMAC selections highlight league’s preseason squad

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men’s soccer team is picked to win the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season title in the league’s Preseason Coaches Poll, presented Tuesday.

In conjunction with the preseason poll, the 13-person 2025 Preseason All-RMAC Team was also announced, with three Mountain Lions on the squad: returning First Team All-RMAC defender Rory Scott and returning Second Team All-RMAC forwards Miles Seminario and Nick Walker.

The Mountain Lions, who are on the hunt for their first men’s soccer regular season title, received six of the 11 first-place votes and 94 total points in the preseason poll. Fort Lewis College, which finished tied for second place in the regular season and reached the RMAC tournament final in 2024, was picked second with three first-place votes and 92 points.

Defending champion Colorado State University Pueblo, under new head coach Nick Blackwell, begins the season picked third in the preseason poll after receiving two first-place votes and 80 points.

Regis University, which was tied for second place with Fort Lewis last season, was picked fourth in the preseason poll 79 points. The Rangers led all teams with four student-athletes named to the Preseason All-RMAC Team: forward Elias Taubo, midfielders Jacobo Betancourt-Tovar and Ignacio Bellina, and defender Julian Fally.

Colorado School of Mines leads the midfield pack in fifth place with 57 points, followed closely by Metropolitan State University of Denver in sixth place with 55 points. Colorado Mesa University is seventh at 47 points, followed by eighth-place pick Westminster with 42 points. Colorado Christian University, South Dakota Mines, and Adams State University round out the 11-team poll.

Taubo, Betancourt-Tovar, and Scott, along with Fort Lewis midfielder David Citron, are the four returning First Team All-RMAC selections named to the preseason team, and they were joined by five Second Team All-RMAC picks. The Preseason All-RMAC Team is determined by placing returning players in order of head coaches’ voting from the league’s 2024 All-RMAC Teams.

The 2025 men’s soccer season begins Thursday, Sept. 4, with six games on the slate. The race for the 2025 RMAC Championship starts on Thursday, Oct. 2, and concludes on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The top six teams qualify for the RMAC Men’s Soccer Tournament to be played Nov. 9-16 at campus sites.

The RMAC’s 11 men’s soccer teams are looking to finish 2025 at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, the host of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men’s & Women’s Soccer Championships. The men’s championship sees the national semifinals played on Friday, Dec. 12 followed by the national championship on Sunday, Dec. 14. Ticket information for the national championship will be available at NCAA.com at a later date.

All RMAC men’s soccer matches broadcast by its 15 full-member institutions and associate members will only be available for purchase via a single-game pass or a monthly or annual subscription. Revenue generated by the network will be redistributed to the league’s membership to enhance their programs.
